A classical Indian Bharatanatyam ballet that is both colorful and rich in drama.
Hindu Gods and Goddesses are represented by numerous images and idols symbolizing divine powers. Each God and
Goddess has many characteristics such as dress, vehicle, and weapons that symbolize the deity's power. This dance drama is based on the cosmic vehicles (vahanas) of eight prominent deities. The story behind each one of the vehicles represented by an animal or bird, how and why they were chosen by their rider or God, is very beautifully depicted, exemplifying their signicance and importance as the vahana. The dancers portray a myriad of characters taken from the rich Hindu mythology to tell the story, the significance and the importance of the Gods mount or vahana.
