Synopsis

Mystique (East Meets West)
March 25-27, 2010
Jeanné Wagner Theatre

On sale: TBA

Legendary choreographer Michio Ito (1893-1961) created a synthesis of Japanese Noh and Kabuki, characteristic gestures drawn from Eastern and Western cultures that left a footprint in American Modern Dance.

A NEW WORK by Andrea Miller adds contrast with movement that erupts from physicality and the subconscious, energy that seizes your attention with fierce aggression and raw beauty. “How did such a young choreographer, so new on the scene, discover such a strongly individual voice and ability to captivate and surprise with such sophisticated, persuasive power?” ( New York Press)

Norwegian choreographer, Jo Stromgren, is influenced by French existentialism, dark winters and lonely fjords but his work, Kraak, offers a certain lightness and absurdity along with explosive dynamic energy.

Run time: TBA

Recommended for ages 8 and up. No babes in arms. All patrons must have a ticket regardless of age.
