Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center
Salt Lake City, Utah

A high-energy concert featuring Afro-Brazilian dance, live music and martial art, Inspiração Do Fogo, a title which translates as Inspiration Of Fire or Breath Of Fire, will feature a cast of over 30 talented dancers, musicians, singers, martial artists, and fire spinners. Samba Fogo’s 2014 Spring Concert will feature several new choreographic works by Artistic Director Lorin Hansen, accompanied live by Samba Fogo musicians and lead vocalist Carla Arancibia, as they perform popular Brazilian songs, traditional Afro-Brazilian rhythms, and original compositions by Musical Director Mason Aeschbacher.

Samba Fogo has gained a reputation for providing high-quality, high-energy shows that pack the Jeanne Wagner Theatre to inspire, educate, and thrill Utah audiences of all ages. In a review of Samba Fogo’s 2012 Spring Concert, Salt Lake Tribune’s Kathy Adams said, “I felt like I student participating in a joyous classroom… with extra credit for community building.” She also commented, “the program balanced traditional music, dance and language with showmanship and contemporary adaptations… the production was professional with smooth transitions and the entertainment never lapsed.” SLUG Magazine says of Samba Fogo, “These athletes, animated and impassioned, could arouse wonder in any audience member.” And Salt Lake City Weekly says, “Samba Fogo brings passion, fire and pure joy to their performance.”

There will be a post-show reception in the Rose Wagner lobby directly following the concert which will offer audience members a chance to get their photo taken with Samba Fogo company members and learn how to participate in Samba Fogo’s year-round cultural arts programming for all ages. This show is recommended for ages 8+, though show content is suitable for all ages.
