The Start of Something Big
September 26th - 28th, 2013
Jeanne' Wagner Theatre
Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center
Salt Lake City, Utah
On sale: 8/12/2013 at 10am.
Our 50th Anniversary Season kicks off with a look at where it all began. This performance encompasses early dances choreographed by Shirley Ririe and Joan Woodbury, as well as works gifted to the company by Murray Louis and Alwin Nikolais. These early dances and new work represent THE START OF SOMTHING BIG - the 50th Anniversary Season and the beginning of a company that has reached hundreds of thousands of people over the years; works that contributed to the arts landscape, not only in Utah, but the world over. The dances are presented in tandem with selections of "Move It", a playful 1976 Fellini-esque film by Stan and Judith Hallet, featuring Joan, Shirley and their dancers at their zaniest, embodying the youthful spirit of the new Company. We'll also celebrate contemporary dance with a primier by out new Artistic Director, Daniel Charon, with the debut of this physically expressive work in Salt Lake City.
